DRS Teacher of the Year: Arami Bolick-Moore, English
Arami Bolick-Moore is a veteran teacher at Davidson River School and a legacy in her classroom. Her instruction is dynamic, diverse and inspirational, as she eloquently engages all of her students no matter the ability level. Her students become her "proteges", under her care and tutelage for their academic and personal betterment, for she not only teaches English, but also life- and interpersonal- skills through inclusion of many enrichment opportunities and community speakers into her programs. Students like her and her instructional style — it is not uncommon to hear students telling colleagues about her classes — "Yeah, you'll like the class, you'll like her, you'll like it" (i.e. her English classes!).
After one semester with Mrs. Moore, students tell staff they want to take any remaining English classes under her supervision. A true testimony is the number of graduates who come to visit Mrs. Moore each year and share their successes in college, or ask for help with college writing assignments.
Mrs. Moore has served on School Improvement Team and Superintendent's Communication Council, and has facilitated English-Language Arts professional development for many years. She assists with the school website and maintains a county-wide blog for English teachers. Davidson River School is proud to recognize this master teacher, a teacher leader in TCS, Mrs. Bolick-Moore.

DRS Teacher Assistant of the Year
Transylvania County Schools Teacher Assistant of the Year: Paula Fisher
Paula Fisher is a highly experienced assistant in Transylvania County yet, only two years ago, assumed the responsibilities of coordinating the district C-Stop program, a county-wide program that reduces the out-of-school suspension rate by offering on-site services for students who would otherwise be at home during suspension periods. She coordinates instruction across four schools and multiple grade levels and networks with the home school to benefit each student that she works with. Paula embraces technology as a natural tool to support instruction and voluntarily took over social media at DRS while juggling the responsibilities of C-Stop. With her efforts and energy, Davidson River School continues to boast of student and school accomplishments on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
