TCS Online Learning Path Meals Expanding
Online Learning Path Meal Program Expanding (August 30, 2020)

Starting September 4th, Transylvania County Schools will offer meal bundles for pick-up from seven locations* on Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for Online Learning Path students. Families are strongly encouraged to enroll in this program to meet their children’s needs. To pick up meals for students in the Online Learning Path program, families should call or email the cafeteria manager at their child’s school. Read on for further details.

COVID-19 Update 21—Calendar, Graduation, Summer Meals

On Monday, June 1, the Board of Education approved a revised school calendar for 2020-21 which begins on August 17. The revised calendar includes five required “remote learning days” and fall semester ends on December 22, 2020, with spring semester ending on May 28, 2021. Additionally, new dates for 2020 graduation were announced as July 30, July 31, and August 1, for in-person outdoor ceremonies. Read on for more information.

COVID-19 Update 20—Emergency Meals-To-You, Graduation 2020

Please remember the deadline is Monday, May 4th at 5:00 p.m. to apply for Emergency Meals-To-You delivered to your home. Also, we have the first details for seniors in the Class of 2020 about our “virtual graduation” ceremonies provided at the Brevard Music Center, June 2-5. More details will follow from each school next week.

COVID-19 Update 17 - April 6, 2020

The Board of Education meeting for April 6 is broadcast online. Read the update for a link to view a live stream. Meals will be served through Thursday, April 9, and resume April 20 after Spring Break. Supplemental food is being sent home on a specified day for each area this week. COVID-19 Update 15 - March 30 - “Stay At Home” Order Takes Effect

We have settled into our Virtual Day schedule through May 15. Over the last two weeks, we have refined our delivery of meals and academics, and now we are set to stay the course. According to Governor Cooper’s most recent order, everyone in the state should “Stay At Home” except for essential business, starting today, March 30, at 5pm.

COVID-19 Update 14 - March 27 - Stay At Home

Thank you for helping us get through an incredible week. On Monday, we continue our schedule with Virtual Day #12. Our elementary students have now received packets for several weeks, and Chromebooks are going home for students in grades 3 through 5. Today, Governor Roy Cooper also announced an executive order for North Carolinians to stay at home starting March 30 at 5:00 pm for the next 30 days, except for performing essential work, to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). Note for staff who receive paper checks— this does mean checks are being mailed, and will not be available for pickup as usual.

COVID-19 Update 13 - March 26 - Learning Packets

Friday, March 27, is Virtual Day #11 for all students. Learning packets are ready between 8am and 4pm at elementary schools, and families have also received messages from principals about plans for Chromebooks in grades 3 through 5. Meals are available for every child age 18 and under in the community. Read on for more details.

Starting Thursday, March 26, bus routes expand to include select community centers and area churches, and four schools begin serving ”grab-and-go” lunch with breakfast for the next day: Brevard High, Brevard Middle, Rosman Middle, and T.C. COVID-19 Update 10 - March 23, 2020 - Closed Through May 15

Today, Governor Roy Cooper joined state education, health, and emergency management officials to announce that all K-12 schools in North Carolina will remain closed for in-person instruction at least through May 15, 2020, to slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). We know learning should never stop, and except for Spring Break, Transylvania County Schools will maintain “blended instruction” for students through May 15. Transylvania County Schools will keep Spring Break as scheduled for the week of April 13-17.

COVID-19 Update 9 - March 22, 2020

From Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27, 2020, Transylvania County Schools will remain on the current Virtual Day schedule. Monday is Virtual Day #7 for elementary students. It remains important to wash hands frequently, and limit contact with anyone who is feeling ill. Buses and vans continue delivering meals this week, with more bus stops coming later this week to increase safety.

Friday, March 20, is Virtual Day number 6, and students will need materials for Days 7 through 12 to continue learning next week. Our Virtual Day schedule currently runs through March 30th. New bus routes have been published for the third day, based on a number of requests for new bus stops and home deliveries. COVID-19 Update 7 – March 18, 2020 – Updated Bus Routes

March 19 is Virtual Day #5, and we are on a Virtual Day schedule through March 30th. On our first day serving children's meals, the team of School Nutrition and Transportation helped to deliver 1,800 meals for children all over Transylvania County, and at our schools. We have a revised school calendar, and you can still request home delivery or new bus stops using our online form or a phone line available during business hours each day.

COVID-19 Update 6 – March 17, 2020 – New Plans for Free Children's Meals

Starting Wednesday, March 18, TCS announces new plans for feeding all children age 18 and under in Transylvania County. Parents may pick up children's meals-to-go at four elementary schools on March 18-19, and weekday bus routes also being March 18, with set stops and a request line for additional areas that need to be served.

COVID-19 Update 3 - Schools Closed Two Weeks Starting March 16th

Under the direction of Governor Roy Cooper in conjunction with state health and education officials, Transylvania County Schools and all school systems in North Carolina will be closed for at least two weeks beginning Monday, March 16, 2020. At this time, there are no positive cases of COVID-19 in our area. While we are prepared to mitigate the risk, prevent possible infections, and respond to possible confirmed cases in the future, closing our schools is not indicated at this time. We are following a risk-prevention plan endorsed by Transylvania Public Health. We are using this and other information below to prepare for any possible situation arising due to recent events.
