COVID-19 Update 6 – March 17, 2020 – Free Children's Meals

COVID-19 Update 6 – March 17, 2020 – New Plans for Free Children's Meals
Posted on 03/17/2020

Dear Transylvania County Schools Families,

We are pleased to announce that starting Wednesday, March 18, TCS will provide a combination of pick-up and delivery options to feed all children ages 18 and under in the community. Parents and guardians have an opportunity to use either method, and service will continue based on the interest of families in using this service.

On Wednesday and Thursday, March 18-19, children’s meals—lunch, and breakfast for the next day—will be available starting at 8:00 a.m. for families to take home at our four elementary schools: Brevard, Pisgah Forest, Rosman, and T.C. Henderson.

Wednesday and Thursday are the same days that learning packets for Virtual Day work are available for pickup, and schools have sent information to families to help with this process.

Every weekday starting Wednesday, March 18, yellow school buses will travel through the Brevard, Pisgah Forest, and Rosman areas to deliver children’s meals—lunch, and breakfast for the next day—for families to take home.

Buses will follow these routes, with additions/adjustments later as needed:

NOTE: Bus routes for March 19 are being expanded for Friday, March 20. Please watch our website, your email and phone messages, and social media for a complete update on new routes with locations and times. Thank you.

Final Note: Throughout North Carolina, state and local-level officials are working together to keep our families safe and to provide nutritious meals to children and families. As Governor Cooper has told all North Carolinians: this is a rapidly evolving situation.

We are committed to working with our state leaders to keep our children and families safe and well-nourished during these difficult times. We are grateful for the tireless support of our community partners, food banks, faith-based organizations, and volunteers.
