Statement from the Transylvania County Board of Education, on Recent Events

“Our country has been through difficult times in the last few weeks. The Transylvania County Board of Education and Transylvania County Schools believe that all North Carolina children shall have the opportunity to reach their full potential through equitable and meaningful public education. We affirm our belief in diversity, acceptance, and kindness, and further assert that racism is not tolerated in Transylvania County Schools. We will continue to work to ensure all students have access to a sound basic education—a constitutional right that has been guaranteed to each and every child in North Carolina.
“We know that to make meaningful change, the dedication and commitment to change must last far beyond the current moment. We urge all stakeholders to engage in collective efforts to build the moral and equitable world that our young people deserve.”
