This is the image for the news article titled BMS Students Make Western District BandThe following BMS Band students participated in the Western District Band auditions at Tuscola High School this weekend (Jan.21) and earned a position in the 2023 Western District Bands.

Camden Jenkins- 11th chair clarinet
Ella Crider-12th chair clarinet
Naila Small- 2nd chair Bass Clarinet
Tyler Studt- 1st chair snare drum

Evan Lance- 4th chair snare drum
Luke Smith- 1st chair Mallets
Maddox Jimeson- 1st alternate snare drum

These students competed against hundreds of students from 15 Western North Carolina counties for positions in one of two middle school bands (Middle School Symphonic and Middle School Concert Band). They were scored in three criteria: scales/ rudiments, prepared solo, and sightreading. Scores were totaled for placement in the bands. Top scorers placed in the Symphonic Band and next highest in the Concert Band.
They will travel to Western North Carolina University Feb. 10th-11th to rehearse and perform a concert open to the public Saturday Feb. 11th in the Bardo Performing Arts Center.

*A special congratulations goes to Naila Small and Tyler Studt for
scoring high enough to advance to the North Carolina All State Auditions
Mar. 4th at Atkins High School in Winston-Salem.
