The Transylvania County Board of Education is now accepting letters of interest for an appointment to fill a current vacancy in its membership until the next Board election in November 2024. Pursuant to North Carolina Session Law 2016-44, to be eligible for this appointment, a person must have been affiliated with the Democratic Party for at least 90 days as of the date of appointment, be at least 21 years of age, and be a resident of Transylvania County.
Application Materials: Candidates interested in an appointment should submit the following information to the Board of Education for consideration.
- A letter with the candidate’s interest in serving on the Transylvania County Board of Education.
- Current resume or Curriculum Vitae attached.
- Documentation from the North Carolina State Board of Elections showing that the candidate is a current member of the Democratic Party, along with documentation of the registration date of affiliation with the Democratic Party.
Pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 115C-37(g) any person appointed to a board of education who is also employed by the Board of Education, shall resign their employment before taking office as a member of the Board of Education.
Deadline for Submission: Interested candidates should deliver a paper copy of all application materials to the Transylvania County Board of Education, c/o Jenny Hunter, at the Morris Education Center, 225 Rosenwald Lane, Brevard, NC 28712, no later than 12:00 p.m. on Friday June 16, 2023. Applications received after this date and time will not be considered by the Board of Education.
Please take notice that all application documents submitted by candidates to the Board of Education for its Board member vacancy are considered public records and subject to the North Carolina Public Records Act, N.C.G.S. § 132-1 et seq.
