Dear Transylvania County Schools Families,
Please pay attention to this message about a new program that will deliver meals to your doorstep for free. This program is called “Emergency Meals-to-You,” and it is a partnership between the US Department of Agriculture, Baylor University, and the Carolina Hunger Initiative at UNC. Your students enrolled at our district schools are eligible to participate.
After you sign up for Emergency Meals-to-You, you’ll get an Emergency Meals-to-You box delivered to your home for each child ages 1 through 18 in your household, every two weeks. Each box will include 10 breakfasts and 10 lunches—2 meals per day for each kid, for two weeks! All foods are shelf stable, which means they will last a long while. With Meals-to-You, kid-friendly meals are delivered—for FREE—directly to your door!
The boxes are packed for security, and because the food is shelf stable, you don’t have to refrigerate the foods immediately. If you are not able to receive your shipment on a given day, be sure to have a neighbor or family member get it. And receiving this benefit will NOT affect any other existing benefits.

IMPORTANT: By submitting your application, you will be giving your consent that your child’s free or reduced-price eligibility status, your school and your mailing address will be disclosed to and verified by Baylor and the Carolina Hunger Initiative, and will be used solely for the purpose of providing meals under the Meals-to-You program and for no other purpose. This relationship is between the parent and the Meals-to-You program.
