Transylvania County School Stakeholders,

We wanted to provide you with an important update regarding the upcoming removal of the renovation signs in front of Brevard High School, Rosman High School, and Rosman Middle School and the subsequent shift in focus for necessary repairs across all our schools.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and efficient use of resources, we would like to explain the rationale behind these decisions. The initial design project for the three schools was an essential step toward addressing critical infrastructure needs. However, as time has passed, it has become evident that the repairs required extend beyond the scope of the initial project, and rising construction costs have made the original concepts financially difficult.

Reasons for Sign Removal:

Wider Scope of Repairs: The comprehensive evaluation of all our schools revealed additional pressing repair needs beyond the originally identified ones.

Cost Considerations: The escalating costs of materials and labor have made it financially impractical to adhere to the original redesign plans.

The Board of Education and the County Commissioners have worked together and are continuing to work together through the Reserve Study Process, and both boards are committed to making sure our school's immediate and most critical needs are addressed. Understanding the importance of addressing urgent repair needs at all our schools has created a shift in the focus. We will prioritize immediate repairs across the entire school district. This strategic reallocation ensures that our facilities remain safe, conducive to learning, and in compliance with the standards set by the community and our educational mission.

The collaborative Reserve Study Process is in its final stages and will soon provide a comprehensive report, which will provide a detailed analysis of the repairs needed compared to the initial assessment in 2017. This report will offer valuable insights into the evolving infrastructure needs of our schools and guide our decision-making process moving forward. Transylvania County Schools is committed to being good stewards of the bond money voted on by the community.

Your partnership is crucial as we work together to uphold the highest standards for our schools and maintain transparency in our decision-making processes.

We appreciate your understanding and support.
