[The following information for 2020 Graduation was announced incorrectly, and we published an update on Monday, May 4, to correct any errors. In addition, on Monday, June 1, the Board of Education approved a plan to host in-person graduation ceremonies on July 30-August 1, 2020. That meeting is now available for viewing through the home page on our website. Thank you for your understanding.]

Second, and very important, we are proud to announce our plans for graduation, to ensure that seniors in the Class of 2020 receive all the honor they deserve for completing their high school career. We will share more details as they become available—via email, here on our website, and social media. Here is the schedule and basic outline.

June 2nd through 5th, Transylvania County Schools will present a virtual graduation ceremony for each of our high schools. We will present a video for each school on their respective nights, after sunset in the Brevard Music Center parking lot. Graduates and a limited number of immediate family will have access with parking passes provided by each school.

Tuesday, June 2, will be our Davidson River School ceremony. Wednesday, June 3, will be Rosman High School. Brevard High School will take two nights, Thursday and Friday, June 4 and 5, with graduates divided alphabetically because of limited parking.

Attendees with parking passes will drive to the Music Center on their assigned night and stay in their cars for a video premiere of our “virtual graduation,” which will take about an hour each night. Speeches, presentations, and images of graduates in caps and gowns will be recorded in advance. Then we will show the complete video on an elevated movie screen, 30 feet wide. Sound will be provided on site or through the video playing on our Facebook page.

All attendees will be required to remain in their cars, which will be staggered far apart in compliance with strict safety guidelines for everyone’s health and safety.

Schools will be sharing more information about each ceremony next week. However, we must remind everyone that strict safety and physical distancing guidelines will be enforced each night to make this available. All attendees will be required to remain in their vehicles, at all times.

Finally, we are deeply indebted to the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office, City of Brevard Police Department, FunFlicks drive-in movie rentals, and of course the Brevard Music Center, for helping us to present this unique and memorable opportunity.

We thank you for your patience and understanding, as always, and thank the many people who are working tirelessly to show our seniors all the love and recognition they deserve. Have a good night and a great weekend!
