Dear Transylvania County Schools Family,
We are on a Virtual Day schedule from now through March 30th, and on Thursday, March 19, we will have Virtual Day Number 5. Please read on for important updates:
- Pick up elementary packets Thursday
- Big first day for School Nutrition
- Expanded bus and van routes for Transportation
- Updated school calendar
NOTE: Bus routes for March 19 are being expanded for Friday, March 20. Please watch our website, your email and phone messages, and social media for a complete update on new routes with locations and times. Thank you.
For Virtual Days, it helps to keep going and do a little work each day at a set time. We are so proud of our dedicated students, fantastic teachers, and hard-working families for staying together on this plan to continue learning every day. We love hearing from you, and seeing photos of students and teachers. It makes a difference!
Whatever else we do, please remember the most important things -- keep washing your hands for at least 20 seconds several times a day, stay at a safe distance, and avoid crowds of 10 or more people. We need everyone to stay healthy!
On Thursday, elementary schools are still handing out materials for Virtual Days 7 through 12. When you visit, pick up your children’s lunch and breakfast for the next day. We will be glad to see you!
Today was our first day delivering meals, and our School Nutrition and Transportation teams handed out over 1,800 meals for children all across Transylvania County. And we are ready to do it all over again tomorrow!
We are adding new bus stops at Holly Crest Apartments, English Hills, and Mountain Glen Apartments, and you can also request home delivery. Please use this online form to request a new stop for your children. Or you can call 885-7393 between 8am and 3:30pm, and Beth Palmer will be there to take down your information personally.
After just one day, we have added three bus stops and 20 home deliveries. Let us help you make this the easiest part of your day!
For the school calendar, we have changed March 23 to a normal Virtual Day, and moved our teacher workday to April 10. Download the new calendar here, or check tcsnc.org/calendar.

This much we know for sure -- we are all doing this work together, and our schools and our families are growing and learning together every day, even when it feels like we are standing still. Thank you for doing what it takes to stay healthy, and to grow together.
This is some of the most important learning we will ever do, even if it never shows up on a test score.
