Hi! I am Ms. Walker. I was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas. I have been in Brevard since 2000. I love the mountains and the town of Brevard.  I have worked for Translyvania county schools since 2002.  Before coming to Pisgah Forest I worked at Brevard Elementary School. Prior to that I was a Clinical Social Worker in Tampa, Fl.
I'm a graduate of Florida Southern College with a Bachelor's in Psychology. I then graduated from Florida State University with a Master's degree in Social Work. Lastly, I graduated from Western Carolina Univeristy with a Masters of Arts in Teaching, Special Education.
Both of my children attended Translyvania County Schools starting their Kindergarten year. They both have gotten an excellent education. My daughter is now 23 years old. She is in graduate school at Vanderbilt Univeristy pursuing a degree in Speech/Language Pathology. My son is Senior at Brevard High School. So, I am busy with BHS football and baseball.
I provide both Inclusion and resource support in reading, writing and math - as specified in their IEPs. Learing will focus on having a positive classrom atmosphere and being engaged in learning. My goal is to provide students with support to acheive to their highest potential. Our learning will include: a child's IEP needs and goals; consideration of each student's learning style; authentic and real life applications of learing; academic learning that includes how to be a good citizen. It is my pleasure to see children grow and learn in an educational rich evironment.
