Ms. Claire Fenner
I grew up in the northeast, but my family now calls Western North Carolina home. We enjoy hiking in the beautiful mountains and experiencing the wonderful music and culture of the Appalachins. We also enjoy traveling around North Carolina and the USA.
The speech pathologist works with students who have communication disorders that effect their ability to perfom in the academic environment. Students are evaluated in the areas of articulation skills (producing sounds correctly), verbal language processing skills (comprehension and expression), verbal fluency (stuttering), voice quality problems (pitch, volume, harshness), and social language skills. Evaluation results determine if a student is eligible for speech therapy services according to NC-DPI guidelines. Then treatment plans (IEP's) are developed and put into place in the school setting.
