    Unity Day

October 24 was a busy day for Unity Day celebrations! Students and staff wore orange in Brevard and Pisgah Forest, to show their commitment against bullying, and Rosman Middle will celebrate on October 31.

The anti-bullying pledge teaches students how to speak up, reach out, and be a friend to keep themselves and others safe. Counselors, SROs, and staff have been working on this with students, and it showed!

See a short video of Officer Wright and the giant orange ribbons at Pisgah Forest Elementary! Or view these photos from Brevard High School, and a whole album from PFE.

Also, visit our Bullying Awareness page on the TCS website. If you or someone you know is concerned about bullying and would like to leave an anonymous tip, please visit our website at tcsnc.org/tipline. You can also call or text an anonymous tip to 828-201-2796.

    Early Voting

Transylvania County citizens are now voting for local,
state, and national offices, and the $68 million school bond on the ballot in 2018.

    One-stop early voting
is open 7am-7pm Monday through Friday, with a special session on the last day of early voting from 8am to 1pm on Saturday, November 3. Previously registered voters may cast their ballots on November 6. Thank you for voting!

    Volleyball Playoffs

Both Brevard and Rosman secured berths in the NCHSAA state volleyball playoffs last week, with Rosman taking on North Stanly and Brevard starting with Shelby at home. After a first round win, Brevard ended their season with a tough five-set loss at home vs. Hendersonville. Thank you Lady Tigers and Lady Devils, coaches, and fans for a great volleyball season!

    Brevard Cross-Country Double Champions

For the first time, both the men's and women's Brevard High School cross country teams earned regional team championships at the same time in their meet this week. Between men and women, five racers were in the top 10.

The teams will both head to the state meet at Kernersville on November 3. Good luck Blue Devils Cross Country, and congratulations runners and coaches on the big wins!

    Red Ribbon Week

This week in Transylvania County Schools is Red Ribbon Week, a national event established in 1988 after Agent Kiki Camerana was killed in the line of duty. This year's theme is ”Life Is Your Journey: Travel Drug Free.

Red Ribbon Week is celebrated to raise awareness of the effects of drug and alcohol abuse. Students will enjoy activities such as dress-up days and door decoration. We hope they end the week knowing they are loved, and knowing how to take care of themselves for the future.

    FFA Convention, Indianapolis

Students and staff from Brevard FFA traveled this week to Indianapolis for the 2018 National FFA Convention & Expo. To see what they're up to, visit their Facebook page, or follow BHS Ag Science teacher Sarah Rhymer on Twitter.
