The following BMS Band students participated in the Western District Band auditions at Tuscola High School the weekend of Jan.19 and earned a position in the 2019 Western District Bands.

These students competed against hundreds of students from 15 Western North Carolina counties for positions in one of two middle school bands (Middle School Symphonic and Middle School Concert). They were scored in three criteria: scales/rudiments, prepared solo, and sightreading. Scores were totaled for placement in the bands. Top scorers are in the Symphonic Band and next highest are in the Concert Band.
They will travel to Western North Carolina University Feb. 8th-9th to rehearse and perform a concert open to the public Saturday Feb. 9th in the Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.
