THE NATIONAL TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY
ARTICLE I: MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
Membership in the Society and the local NTHS Chapter shall be composed of students enrolled in workforce education programs or majors, and who qualify for membership according to the regulations of the NTHS national office and the local chapter. Members may be from any and/or all occupational departments, programs or majors within the institution and must have been duly approved by the local chapter advisor or school administration. Membership selection shall be made, at all times, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, genetic information, political affiliation, veteran’s status, or other protected class of the individual candidate for membership.
Juniors or seniors under consideration as candidates for the Society, shall meet, at minimum, the following membership criteria:
Completion of a Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway.
Meet or exceed the following GPA criteria:
A minimum overall 3.0 unweighted GPA
A minimum overall 3.25 CTE specific unweighted GPA
Attendance; no more than 5 unexcused absences in a current course and in the prior semester proceeding NTHS induction.
Commendable character as demonstrated through 2 recommendations from teachers; 1 must be from a CTE teacher
No Out of School Suspensions and no more than 2 In School Suspensions during high school career
Display leadership qualities/strong work ethic through active involvement in at least one or more of the following:
Certification or credential attainment
Active Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) involvement
Participation in work-based learning, job shadowing or internship
ARTICLE II: MEMBER INDUCTION
The local chapter will hold an induction program for the new NTHS membership annually. The nature of the induction ceremony shall be respectful and conducted in order to bring maximum recognition to the school’s outstanding students. The NTHS membership induction shall include:
NTHS Mission Statement
Administration of the NTHS Pledge of Membership
Presentation of Membership Certificates
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP DUES
National membership dues are set by the NTHS National Board of Directors and may be adjusted on an annual basis. Membership dues will be paid by TCS CTE department for students that meet the criteria
ARTICLE IV: MEMBERSHIP REVOCATION
Members may have their membership revoked if the membership criteria is not maintained.
ARTICLE V: AMENDING THE BYLAWS
These bylaws may be amended by the CTE administration with approval from the CTE director.
