TCS is excited to announce the new county athletic director as Mark Ellenberger. Mark graduated from Brevard High School in 1990 and attended UNC Charlotte, where he received his bachelor of science in criminal justice in May 1994. He worked as an adult probation/parole officer in Transylvania County for 2 years; and during this time he started coaching wrestling at Brevard High School and football at Brevard Middle School. After 2 years he took an appointment as magistrate in Transylvania County and held that position for 10 years. During that time he coached football and wrestling back and forth between BHS and BMS. In 2007, he took a job with the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office as the school resource officer at Brevard High School and stayed in that position for 13 years; still coaching at both BMS and BHS. In 2019 he transferred to the criminal investigations division at the sheriff's office and retired as the investigations lieutenant in 2023.
Mark is married to Missy Ellenberger and has two sons, Tanner and Luke, who graduated from Brevard High School in 2017 and 2019.
