Convocation

The Brevard High School auditorium buzzed with energy Tuesday morning as Transylvania County Schools held its annual Back-to-School Convocation ceremony, bringing together staff from all nine schools to officially launch the 2025-26 academic year.

Educators, administrators and support staff gathered for the district-wide event to show enthusiasm and school spirit as they prepare to welcome students back to classrooms on August 25th. The ceremony served as both a celebration of community and a rallying point for the year ahead.

Each school made their grand entrance with unique themes and presentations that highlighted their school spirit and creativity. They featured spectacular performances by members of Rosman Tiger Band, Brevard High School's band and their cheer teams. Themes ranged from tiger pride and a musical Ozzy tribute to "Brevard-O-Mania," and being "Unstoppable."

Superintendent Dr. Lisa Fletcher welcomed everyone and recognized new employees joining the district. The morning also featured keynote speaker Brian Randall from the North Carolina Center for Resilience and Learning, who shared his passion for helping students and educators build resilience through social-emotional learning.

The convocation included a video message from State Superintendent Mo Green, sending encouragement to teachers across Transylvania County.

The event wrapped up with a symbolic moment.

Teachers from each school ceremoniously walked out of the auditorium together, heading back to their individual campuses to put the finishing touches on classrooms and lesson plans.

With students returning to classrooms in just a few days, the district's nine schools are ready to live up to their motto: "Building a stronger tomorrow...today!"

The event wouldn't have been possible without generous supporters. First Citizens Bank served as the platinum sponsor, with other contributors including Starbucks, Little River Baptist Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest, the Transylvania County Schools Educational Foundation and Spark Point.

We thank all of the other kind businesses and organizations that donated raffle prizes and provided financial support, including: Rosman Tabernacle Church, Brevard First United Methodist, First Baptist Church, One Church, Chase Insurance, Carolina Smiles, NCAE, SEANC, Gaia Herbs and Champion Credit Union.

It sends a powerful message that our community cares, that we stand together, and that we believe in making a difference.

We are also thankful to Tessa Brown and Carrie Norris for all of their work in making it a successful day.
