Pisgah Forest Elementary School is excited to launch its new Outdoor Education and Discovery program this October, giving students the chance to learn through hands-on experiences in our area's rich natural environment.
The program connects classroom learning with the biodiversity right outside the school's doors. Students will work with North Carolina Science standards through STEAM activities while exploring local ecosystems and conducting real field studies.
Music education will be woven into these outdoor activities, using nature as inspiration for rhythm, song, and creativity. This multi-disciplinary approach will allow students to learn and explore key concepts while developing a deeper understanding of the world around us.
The program offers several key experiences:
Students conduct field studies and observations in local natural areas
STEAM projects blend science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through outdoor learning
Focus on regional ecosystems helps students understand their local environment
Music education blended into nature-inspired activities
All activities support required North Carolina educational standards
This valuable addition to school programming prepares students for future success while building appreciation for the natural world. Parents will have opportunities to see student work and learn more about the program as it gets underway this fall.
