The following is a release from The Transylvania County Schools Educational Foundation, a valued TCS partner.

The Transylvania County Schools Educational Foundation (TCSEF) is excited to announce this year’s Farmyard Bingo winner: Mary Kathryn Fisher! Thank you to our winner who has generously decided to donate the funds to the TCSEF!

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our schools. We sold 175 tickets, raising $4,375 to fund essential TCSEF programs that support students and teachers, including Backpack Buddies, the Kimsey-Tilson Teacher Supply Closet, and Creative Classroom Grants.

Backpack Buddies provides nutritious food for students facing food insecurity during school breaks. This program previously served about 200 students each break, but after Helene, demand has risen to more than 300 students for Thanksgiving. We anticipate this need will increase and we are grateful to our partners, Sharing House, The Hunger Coalition, and Bread of Life, for helping us meet this growing need.

The Kimsey-Tilson Teacher Supply Closet helps reduce the financial burden on teachers, who spend an average of $1,600 of their own money on supplies each year. Teachers can request classroom essentials monthly, and with support from the Retired Teachers Association, deliveries are made directly to classrooms.

Creative Classroom Grants fund innovative teaching projects that expand learning opportunities for students. Last year, with support from the Pisgah Forest Rotary Club, more than $15,000 in grants were awarded to teachers in every school.

Funds raised through Farmyard Bingo help make these programs possible—and allow us to grow them. If you’d like to support TCSEF’s work, you can donate at:
