On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the Transylvania County Board of Education approved the 2026-2027 school calendar. The first day of school for students will be August 24, 2026.
The approved calendar reflects statewide requirements, including the start-date requirement: "Except for year‑round schools, the opening date for students shall be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26, and the closing date for students shall be no later than the Friday closest to June 11."
