At last night's school board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Lisa Fletcher recognized Rosman High School sophomore and varsity quarterback Zeke Gainey for recent actions that exemplified the character and care for others that TCS aims for every student to develop. When a mother and her infant were trapped in a wrecked vehicle, Zeke acted quickly to free them and carry the baby to safety before emergency crews arrived.
"I just saw people who needed help. I've been playing football a long time. I guess that teamwork mindset kicked in," he told the Transylvania Times in a recent article.
Transylvania County Schools is proud of Zeke for his demonstration of quick thinking, courage, and concern for those around him.

Last night, Transylvania County Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Fletcher took a moment during the school board meeting to recognize one of Brevard High School's own, and his family was there to share in the moment! Congratulations to Keaton Campbell on winning the Indoor Track State Championship in the 1600M and finishing as State Runner-Up in the 3200M.
Keaton, along with Andy Gorman, helped lead the BHS Men's Team to a 4th place overall finish at the state meet.
And let's not forget the BHS Girls Team, who also represented Blue Devil Track with excellence, finishing 10th overall in the state!
To every student-athlete and coach who gave their all this season, your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed!

Sunday was National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, and we want to give a big shoutout to the dedicated officers who keep our campuses safe every single day!

In Transylvania County Schools, we are proud to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) at all nine of our schools. These officers work every day to keep our students safe. They also serve as positive role models and familiar faces who build meaningful relationships with our students and staff.

Congratulations to Brevard High School's Mock Trial team on an outstanding performance at the Hendersonville Regional competition on Saturday!
Our Blue Devils brought home a perfect 6-0 record from the Henderson County Courthouse and swept three out of four individual awards:

Katie Owens - sophomore
Victoria Ramsey - sophomore
Katie Futrelle - sophomore

These talented students, led by Ms. Przywara, represented Brevard High with excellence:
Greysen Motley, Rebecca Harris, Abigail Dodd, Sophia Purcell, Madeline Andrews, Katie Owens, Victoria Ramsey, and Katie Futrelle, with Paige Dinsdale serving as bailiff and timekeeper.
Academic competitions like mock trial develop critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills that will serve our students for a lifetime. We're incredibly proud of this team's hard work!

Dear Transylvania County Schools community,

Due to icy road conditions in parts of our county and expected low temperatures overnight, Transylvania County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Friday, February 6. This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

The delayed start will provide drivers with daylight visibility to safely navigate any remaining slick areas. We believe this is the safest option for our school community.

Important Bus Route Information:

Please be advised that buses will not run on the following roads, or any secondary roads accessed from these roads, due to hazardous icy conditions:

Little River Campground Rd.

Reasonover Rd.

Solomon Jones Rd.

Upper Rich Mountain Rd.

Allen McCall Rd.

Macintosh Rd.

Shelton Rd.

Slick Fisher Rd.

Staton Rd.

McKee Rd.

ALTERNATE PICK-UP LOCATIONS:

If your regular stop is affected, please bring your child to one of these locations or contact your school for information:

Little River Area: Little River Fire Department or Little River Baptist Church

Lake Toxaway Area: Lake Toxaway Fire Department

Balsam Grove Area: Balsam Grove Community Center

Carsons Creek Area: Connestee Fire Department (at Connestee back gate)

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER: Please keep your children inside where it's warm until the bus arrives. Drivers will honk their horns and allow extra time for your child to board the bus.

Please continue to follow our social media accounts and visit our website for any updates.

Dear Transylvania County Schools families and staff,

Due to the significant winter weather our area has experienced this week and last week, we are making an adjustment to our school calendar.

State calendar law limits school systems to only 5 remote learning days per school year, and we have now used our allotted remote learning days due to weather-related closures. To ensure that our students receive the required, in-person instructional time, the planned early release days on Friday, February 13 and Friday, May 1 will now be full instructional days with regular dismissal times.

We recognize that calendar changes may require adjustments to family schedules, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these weather-related challenges.

If you have questions regarding this schedule change, please contact your school's main office.

Thank you for your continued support of Transylvania County Schools.

Sincerely,

Transylvania County Schools

Dear Transylvania County Schools Parents and Staff,

Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Thursday, February 5. We have made this decision out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our staff and students due to icy road conditions that remain in parts of the county.

More precipitation is expected overnight combined with low temperatures. With five roads along our bus routes still closed and the potential for additional hazardous conditions, we believe a delayed start is the safest option for our school community.

Please continue to monitor for updates and stay safe. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

Please note | Buses will not run on the following roads, and any secondary roads accessed from these roads, due to icy conditions:

Shelton Road

Upper Rich Mtn Rd
