TCS middle school principals, Jessica McCall and Julie Queen, recently traveled to middle schools in Yancey, Mitchell and Avery counties to deliver snacks and gift cards to their staff. TCS students from Rosman High school participated in the Honor Band at UNCW. They were selected to attend a band festival at UNCW and play in a concert there. The students selected were Camden Stamey, Ayden Gibson and Kadin Chaga; along with band director Tiffany Hurley. #TCSYes

Congratulations to BHS band director, Andrew Jimeson, for his feature in the SBO edition of the 50 Music Teachers that Make a Difference! Come and see Mr. Jimeson and the Brevard Middle and High School Bands as they present their annual Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 17th beginning at 6:30 PM at the Porter Center on the Campus of Brevard College. Admission is $5 for adults. This is the first year we will receive donations for our newly established "Dr. Palmer Band Scholarship." Donations can be given in person at the concert or made to the Brevard Band Association by mailing a gift to Brevard High School ATTN: Brevard Band Association. TCS Kat Bailey has spent the week presenting at NCDPI's AI Summit for Educators. The goal of the summit is to help guide the responsible adoption and implementation of generative AI in our public schools. She has presented a workshop entitled Teaching in the AI Age: From 0 to Infinity. She is leading our EdTech team to become the go to professionals as we move forward into the age of AI. #TCSTogether
TCS Child Nutrition, with funding from the Hunger Coalition, helped the Backpack Buddy Program to fill 300 bags of nutrient dense food to send out to students over the Christmas break. Volunteers from Grace Brevard Church and Transylvania County Schools Educational Foundation joined with TCS staff on the collaborative effort to bag and deliver to schools. #TeachingEveryoneTakesEveryone

The Brevard High School Theatre class made its rounds to Brevard and Pisgah Forest Elementary Schools performing their skit, The North Pole Has Talent, for the students.
Many of our schools and programs participated in the County's Christmas parades over the weekend. Davidson River School teamed up with Pisgah National Forest and got 1st place for their float that included some students playing the taiko drums in the Brevard Parade-- Congrats!
TCS inducted 102 students last week into the National Technical Honor Society, which is the honor society for Career and Technical Education. These students have excelled in learning employability skills, which they will take and build on throughout their careers. TCS CTE students earned 1,754 credentials in 2023-24 and are number 2 in the state for their attainment rate, 83.5%. Way to go, Juniors and Seniors! #TCSYes
